Angela and Michael would like to welcome you to Strand Cottage in the heart of the Hadrian's Wall corridor. Situated 2 miles from Roman Vindolanda and 3 miles from Housteads this is the ideal place to base your visit. We have 3 well appointed rooms. Each room has colour television, clock radio, and hospitality tray and we are centrally heated. Drying facilities and a laundry are available. One double ensuite room and one twin with private facilities are available in the house. These adjoining rooms which have a door on the landing separating them from the rest of the house, can be let as a family suite to sleep 4 people, or 5 with a folding bed. We also have a detached ensuite family room which sleeps up to 5 people in a double bed and 2 single beds and 1 folding bed. This room can be let as a double room and dogs are allowed in this room only, although they may not be left unattended at any time. Prices start from £27.50 per person sharing a room with a discount given on request when staying longer than 3 nights. Single occupation of either room from £32 to £38, and the family rooms starts at £55 for two people with children's prices according to age. Special rates for people taking part in a 'dig' at Vindolanda. Please fill out an enquiry form on our website below for a price for your children. Off road parking for 5 cars, and bicycle storage at the back of the house. This is a private home of Alan and Carol Davison and they extend a warm welcome to their many guests. Dating back to 1823, this was originally a small cottage before being extended to create this fine, large house. The property has been extensively refurbished, retaining many of the original features, while creating a comfortable home. The rural setting is delightful, and the front of the house is covered with a large creeper and other trailing plants while there is also a colourful garden. Inside, visitors can make use of a sitting room and dining room. The whole of the interior is kept cosy and warm with open log fires that are lit when the weather turns cold. There are three guest bedrooms in all. The double has an en suite bathroom, the twin room has a private bathroom and the single room has the use of the bathroom just down the hall.
